Our Globes: 1938 George F. Cram 12″

My wife and I have about 9 or 10 globes in our house (in addition to many more maps and prints). I was going around the house to date them and record them for insurance purposes (we’ve gotten them all for $10-20, but maybe one’s way more valuable than that and we got lucky?) and I figured I’d share them on the blog as well. First up, a c.1938 George F. Cram 12″ globe.

How did I come to the 1938 determination? Anschluss. On this globe, Austria is part of Germany. However, Czechoslovakia is still independent, the occupation of which by Nazi German didn’t occur until 1939. To me, that’s a very cool tidbit that the map it that small window in world history.
